Hello fellow 49 and Market Friends!
Happy Halloween! It’s Nikki Sher back to show you a second fun layout I made using the new Curiosities in Willow Grove Halloween Assortment Collection designed by Vicki Boutin. I have been having so much fun with this Assortment Pack – everything in it is to DIE for (hehe – see what I did there?)!
I really wanted to up the “spook” factor on this layout so I started by blending 49 and Market Dye Ink in Off the Rails on all four corners of the white ledger paper. Then I added a bit of water from a spritzer bottle to get that splatter/lifted look. It really added to the whole vibe of the layout.
One of my close friends has an annual Halloween Party and last year the display of food was phenomenal! It was so good – the table display had its own photo shoot! I think my favorite had to be a tie between the made from scratch black caramel apples and the ghost salt and pepper shakers. I had to document the feast appropriately and this collection worked perfectly!
After making the background and laying out my photos, I created a few clusters around the layout. I wanted to keep the photos as a focal point of my layout, so using mostly black, gray and white embellishments really helped with that. Even though the haunted house, spooky tree and spider web are larger than my photos, they aren’t over shadowed by them because the photos retain the color on the layout.
To finish up the layout, I made sure to ink all my embellishments with the 49 and Market Dye Inks in Fossil (to tone down the white) and Off the Rails. I added a final cluster at the top edge of my layout to help pop the orange in the photos and tie in the orange paper that I matted the whole layout on. Finally, I added a tiny bit of journaling and added the date to my layout. Quick Tip: Are you nervous about journaling directly on your layouts? Me too! Lately I have been using erasable pens, that way if I mess up, I can just erase and start over! They work great!
I just love how this layout turned out! I really am loving that 49 and Market has a Halloween Collection this year! Hopefully, it will not be the last! What do you plan to make with the Curiosities in Willow Grove Halloween Assortment Collection?
