Hello fellow 49 and Market Friends!
It’s Nikki Sher back to share a project I made using the 49 and Market Mistletoe and Memories Collection designed by Vicki Boutin. This collection is perfect for documenting your upcoming holiday traditions as well as all your Christmas crafting. I can’t wait to show you what I created with it!
When I first saw the Mistletoe and Memories Flipbook Kit and Foundations Flip Stand I knew exactly what I wanted to make – an Advent/Christmas Countdown Calendar. It just screamed it to me! I immediately broke open the packages and started to get to work.
The first thing I noticed was that the kit only came with 8 pages and I needed 12 to make my full countdown. I loved all the shaped pages in the kit so I started brainstorming some ideas to create some additional pages. I finally settled on an ornament, snowflake, mitten and lightbulb. I had also considered a stocking, candle and fireplace but went with the original four ideas. I got to work on my electronic cutting machine and created the pages.
Once I had all my pages made, I began laying them out. I knew I wanted a lot of room for pictures and Vicki’s Essential Frames would work as a great addition to the kit. There are over 65 pieces in there, so I knew that would cover my needs.
I loved the ideas included on the packaging of the Flipbook Kit so I created a lot of my pages around that plus adding in a few additional embellishments. My favorite embellishments to work with are the laser cuts so I chose to add the Laser Cut Foliage pack. And of course I needed numbers! The Chipboard Bits worked great for that. I love that there are three whole sets in there allowing me to mix and match between them.
After that it was just a matter of decorating! Once I finished the first 12 pages, I simply flipped them over and decorated the backs. This way, when I have it on the stand and I get to Day 12, all I have to do is turn the stand around and I’m already at Day 13!
For my advent calendar, I chose to stop at Day 24. However, if you wanted to countdown all 25 days to Christmas, you can simply add Day 25 to the Flip Stand itself allowing for the full 25 days of Christmas.
I loved making this Advent Calendar for this upcoming holiday season and I can’t wait to add my photos each day! I hope I’ve given you a few ideas to try when creating your Christmas Crafts. What are you planning to make this season?
