Grateful – Layout by Rebecca

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to the 49 and Market blog. It’s Rebecca here, and I’m thrilled to share my very first layout created with Dennis’ latest collection, Wanderlust Explorer. This collection is absolutely stunning and has a primary travel theme, but it’s versatile enough for so much more! For this layout, I’ve used it to document a day trip we took on a steam train while visiting my parents.

To start, I cut strips of varying lengths and widths from several patterned papers, carefully selecting colours that complement my photo. These strips were layered in the center of a cardstock sheet from the Solids Pack. I also pulled a couple of tags from Die Cut Elements, layering them with the paper strips, and added foam behind them for added dimension. On top of this layered foundation, I placed my photo, which is matted with a coordinating patterned paper from the 6×8 collection pack.

Next, I chose some Laser Cut Elements that fit the memory I was documenting. I started by positioning the larger elements—like the train and stack of suitcases—before figuring out where to place the smaller pieces. I find it’s always easier to place the largest elements first, as it allows you to visualise the remaining space for the finer details.

For the title, I decided to use one of the Chipboard Words, as they add beautiful dimension to the layout. I selected the word “grateful” and placed it at the bottom right corner of the design. From the same pack, I also picked two phrase elements to frame my photo.

To enhance the background, I applied some Blendable Rub-On Transfers. They’re super easy to use, and the quality is incredible. The transfers blend seamlessly into the paper, giving the illusion that they were printed directly on it! I built on this by adding layers of stamping with some stamps from the first 49 and Market and Sizzix release, including stamp sets 666704, 666705 and 666631.

To finish the layout, I added chipboard and epoxy arrows and dots, and a single strand of waxed twine, which I stapled in place to introduce a “grungy” texture. Finally, I added some Nuvo drops for a bit of extra flair.
