Hey friends!
Brianna here today and I’m so thrilled to be able to share my first layout with y’all using the gorgeous Curiosities in Willow Grove collection! I paired it with the brand new inks and let me tell you, they are absolutely amazing to work with!! I love to add mixed media to my pages and these inks are so juicy and pigmented!! Here’s my page:

To start, I took a thick piece of white cardstock and prepped it with a bit of white gesso. This helped create a barrier between my inks and my paper, so it didn’t get absorbed into the paper right away. The color just sits right on top of it and you’re able to let the color run and blend together. Perfect for watercoloring!

Next, I pulled out the new Irresistible Curiosities Rub Ons and applied a few to my background. I thought they’d be the perfect addition to my watercolored background. After applying them down, I smooshed the Watermelon, Daffodil, Rainforest and Arctic Blitz down on my work surface and added some clean water. I then started painting each color on, in rainbow order in a fun crescent shape that worked its way up my page.

While my background was drying, I pulled out the 12×12 Paper Pad and tore out the page with all of the butterflies on it. I fussy cut 3 butterflies from each color and then set them aside. I embellish with them in the next few steps. I went ahead and matted both of my photos using a copy of photos from the 6×8 Paper Pad and popped them up on foam tape. Before I adhered them down to my page, I added one of the fun glass dome pieces from the Die Cuts pack first, and then layered my photos next. I also pulled out a phrase piece for my title and a couple of flag banners as well. I made sure to take note of all of their placements since I was continuing to embellish tone on tone.

From here, I went ahead and took all of my butterflies and applied glue to the center of each one. I adhered them down on their corresponding colors and popped up each of their wings for some dimension and interest. I love how my page is looking!!

Lastly, I embellished around my page a bit more by pulling in some of the Laser Cut Elements and Laser Cut Foliage pieces. Not only is this page embellished tone on tone, but it’s also in rainbow order. So cute!! I love the different layers and all of the dimension from the butterfly wings. They are so whimsical!
