Hello fellow 49 and Market Friends and Happy Holidays!
It’s Nikki Sher back to show you a layout I made using the Mistletoe and Memories Collection designed by Vicki Boutin. I have been creating a lot of holiday goodness with this collection and with all the paper and embellishments I had on my table, I was easily able to put this layout together.
Not only am I an avid scrapbooker but I also love to cross stitch, and when I saw this background paper in the 12×12 Paper Pad I just knew it was going to be the perfect opportunity to combine two of my favorite hobbies. Since this is a Christmas layout, I wanted it to really shine – so I pulled out my gold thread and got to work!
I began by piercing all my holes between the pre-existing black lines. I wanted to emphasize the star shape so there is a gold thread between each line on the paper. I already knew the photo I wanted to use had a wreath in the background so showcasing the circle shape worked with my photo and the paper well.
Next it was time to embellish! I love the houses in both the Laser Cut and Die Cut packs so featuring one of those on my layout was a must. I created a little scene with the house and then I balanced out the other corner with a Laser Cut bow and a few snowflakes. I still wanted to add a little more texture to my layout so I used some of the Blendable Rub On transfers. In hindsight, I should have done this before I stitched the background paper, but I think it still came out nicely!
Of course all my elements are inked with the Ranger 49 and Market Salted Caramel Ink. (This is a great neutral brown – and if you wanted to just start with a couple colors to test them out, I highly recommend this one.) The only thing left to do was add my title! I love the Puffy Stickers for this. I chose a phrase that I liked and added in a few extra Puffy Sticker elements around my embellishment clusters.
I just love how this layout came out and that I was able to combine two of my favorite hobbies in one project. What will you be creating this holiday season?
