I am sharing a layout using the STUNNING Botanical Buzz collection. This collection is an absolute gem, fresh, heartwarming, and full of life. It beautifully captures the joy and simplicity of nature through soft, sun-washed colours, delicate florals, and rustic garden imagery.
This layout features a photo of my husband. The photo was taken in the doorway of an old house, and the weathered wooden door frame adds a wonderfully nostalgic, textural element to the image. Its aged character complements the rustic garden theme of the collection beautifully and enhances the warm, heartfelt tone of the layout. It feels like a quiet moment paused in time. Simple, real, and full of meaning.
I used the B-side of the Fresh paper which has a rich woodgrain texture, and perfect for a masculine layout. I used the Solids Sheet 4 from the Solids Collection Pack as the base of my layout. I trimmed the woodgrain paper to 11.5″ x 11.5″ to create a soft frame and added visual interest by cutting, distressing, and inking a few slits to let the darker brown background peek through.
To complement the rustic garden theme, I added a mix of dimensional die-cut hexagons in coordinating tones of yellow, mint, and soft green throughout the layout. These bring a playful nod to the “Buzz” in Botanical Buzz, subtly referencing bees and honeycombs. I layered some of the hexagons with foam tape for added dimension and interest. I also added two woodgrain hexagons from the die-cut elements layered over soft rub-on transfers, which subtly add texture and visual detail. I also scattered small puffy hexagon stickers were adhered to the larger hexagons.
To create depth behind the stone archway, I glued a piece of the same solid brown paper making the arch pop against the background. I also added two lantern-style lights from the laser-cut set on either side of the arch, enhancing the cozy, cottage garden feel. The rustic garden scene was brought to life with laser-cut elements such as the watering can, flowers, foliage, flower cart, and wooden fencing, creating a layered and immersive look. The laser-cut elements are incredibly detailed and do a lot of the work in building scenes that feel dimensional and immersive.
I completed the design with meaningful chipboard sentiments such as “anything is possible,” “love deeply, live fully”. The title phrases “Let’s Explore Together” and “A Moment to Remember” perfectly capture the mood of this special memory.
