Thankful – Layout by Rebecca

Hello Friends and welcome back to the 49 and Market blog. It’s Rebecca with you today, sharing my second layout created with the gorgeous Starlight Dreams collection, which has been beautifully designed by Dennis Bruton. This collection is full of rich blue tones and splashes of gold. The possibilities with this collection are endless!

I began by tearing strips from some of the patterned papers and arranging them in the centre of a sheet of premium white cardstock. I distressed all the edges to introduce some texture, and also added a torn strip of floral washi tape from the Washi Sheets.

On top of my patterned papers, I adhered my photo, backed with a lighter coloured patterned paper to offer some contrast against the deep blue behind it. I’d selected the word ‘Thankful’ from the Chipboard Word set for my title and positioned it in the bottom right corner of my photo, raised up with foam pads.

Around the edges of my photo, I layered some of the Laser Cut Elements, selecting mainly florals as the photo I’ve scrapped here is of my little boy in a meadow. I’ve added foam pads behind a lot of the petals and leaves to add more dimension to the page. I also noticed a small circluar floral element on the packaging of the chipboard pieces. A lot of the packaging for this collection includes additional elements you can either fussy cut, or punch out to stretch the collection that little bit further – what a fab idea! With this cicle element, I added a clear 1 inch epoxy sticker on top of it to create an expoxy flair.

To add some detail to my background, I applied some of the Rub-On Transfers and added some platters of metallic gold paint.

With the main part complete, I couldn’t help but feel that the edges of the layout needed something darker to finish them off. I considered some mixed media, but in the end decided to trim down the white cardstock and distress all the edges, before folding two corners and stapling them down. With the background cardstock now trimmed to about 10.5 inches x 10.5 inches, I backed it with the ‘Magical’ patterned paper so that this gave the page a floral edge.

For the finishing touches, I added a couple of laser cut stars from the Die Cut Elements and some tiny stars from the Epoxy Stickers, along with a couple of laser cut butterflies.
