Love time spent with you – Layout by Julie

Hello everyone & welcome back to the 49 and Market blog.
I’m using Curiosities in Willow Grove today & have picked out tones that match my photo. This collection has all the colours present so you won’t be hard-pressed to find tones to match!!

When you want your scrapbook page to make a bold statement, start with an oversized photo. A large, high-quality image immediately draws the eye and sets the emotional tone of your layout. It tells the story before a single word or embellishment appears. Whether it’s a sweeping landscape, a joyful family portrait, or a candid close-up, printing your photo at a larger scale creates instant drama and focus.

Once your photo is printed and positioned—usually centred or slightly off-centre—start thinking about balance. The key is to let your photo shine while adding thoughtful layers that enhance, rather than compete. This is where rub-on transfers and embellishment clusters come in.

Try placing delicate rub-on transfers in the top left and bottom right corners of your photo. This diagonal placement creates visual flow, guiding the viewer’s eyes naturally across the image. I chose transfers as a background to my clusters & also added a few directly onto the photo.

Next, build small embellishment clusters over the transfers. Mix textures and materials for depth: think paper flowers, tickets, word strips, or layered die-cuts. Keep one cluster slightly larger than the other to maintain visual interest. If your photo has white space, let the clusters overlap slightly for a cohesive, blended look.

Finally, add a subtle title or phrase that connects emotionally with your image.

The result is a beautifully balanced page where the oversized photo anchors your story, and the embellishments whisper the finer details. It’s simple, striking, and oh-so memorable—a true showcase of your creative eye and storytelling heart.
