Happy – Layout by Rebecca

Hello Friends, and welcome to the 49 and Market blog!

It’s Rebecca here today, and I’m absolutely thrilled to share my first layout featuring the brand-new Flower Emporium collection, designed by the incredibly talented Vicki Boutin. This is Vicki’s debut collection for 49 and Market, and I must say, she has truly outdone herself! The collection is filled with stunning florals and an abundance of beautiful patterned papers. It perfectly blends Vicki’s signature style with the elegance of 49 and Market.

For my layout, I started by cutting several circles from one of the patterned papers in the 12×12 Patterned Paper Pad. Using my circle nesting dies, I was able to cut each circle individually, leaving the centres open. I selected three of the larger circles, opting for more neutral tones, and arranged them horizontally across a sheet of smooth white cardstock. In the centre of the circles, I placed my photo, which I framed in a circular chipboard frame. The primary colours in my photo are green and white, so I decided to keep the colour scheme of the layout to shades of green, white, and black for a harmonious, balanced look.

Behind the patterned paper circles, I added a layer of ephemera pieces from the Journal Ephemera Bits and tags, which I’d cut from patterned paper. I punched holes at the top of the tags and inserted gold metal eyelets to give them a bit more flair.

Once the larger elements were in place, I could easily move them around as one cohesive piece while I tried out additional details. I chose some off-white florals from the Icon Ephemera Bits and also fussy-cut some matching florals from a patterned paper. These florals formed two large clusters, which I then built upon by adding leaves from various packs in the collection. The Flower Emporium collection is overflowing with beautiful florals and foliage, so I had no shortage of options! I pulled some leaves from the Foiled Die-Cut Assortment and the Icon Ephemera Bits to introduce different textures. The shine from the acetate leaves, especially with the metallic gold border, adds such a lovely touch.

For the title, I chose a bold chipboard word from the Chipboard Basics pack. The pops of black really make a dramatic statement on this layout and tie everything together beautifully!

To finish, I added black rub-on transfers around the edges of my central design and finished the layout with some black paint splatters to bring everything together in a cohesive, artsy way.
