Festive Gathering – Layout by Evy

Hello creative friends,
We’re kicking off September with a project from my August Christmas series. I think I’ll be keeping you company for a while with this series of Christmas-themed projects.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I have a lot of photos I took in Paris over the Christmas holidays to scrapbook, and I’m taking advantage of this wonderful collection.

Creating a Christmas project in the heat is a bit surreal at times, but I’m having a lot of fun with this dual interpretation.
Example: a Christmas ball with rays of light or the sun with its rays? What do you see?

Before adding the Christmas ball string and the embellishments, my husband came into the scrap room and said: this sun is beautiful 😂, we laughed a lot about it.

I’ll leave you a photo of the project so you can tell me what you see.

To make it, I started with this patterned paper decorated with rays and cut a circle in the center from the smaller 6×8 pad to symbolize a Christmas ball.
I created the entire design from this focal point, on the edge of the sphere, and played with lots of overlapping.
I used both diecuts and lasercuts to create many different thicknesses. For the title I mixed chipboard and puffy stickers.

Here you can see the detail of the various thicknesses and overlaps, I love the little details like the puffy ribbon at the top of the pine tree.

On the rays of the patterned paper I played with the chipboard writings, creating an immediate and impactful caption.

Sometimes the simplest layouts are my favorites—just an idea and everything becomes easier. Here, the Christmas ball and patterned paper do all the work and make the photo pop. The colorful embellishments highlight the photo’s colors without distracting.
