Dreamer – Layout by Rebecca

Hi Friends,

Welcome to the 49 and Market blog! Rebecca here, and I’m thrilled to share my very first creation using the Starlight Dreams collection, the first offering of 2025 designed by Dennis Bruton. If you haven’t seen this stunning new collection yet, you’re in for a treat! It’s a beautiful mix of deep blues and soft neutral tones that truly capture the essence of dreamy serenity.

I began my layout by choosing a patterned paper for the background. Since I knew I’d be using a lot of blue tones, I selected a lighter beige and cream paper for contrast. One paper that really caught my eye was ‘Tranquil’, and I decided to use a 3×4 cut-apart card from the reverse side. I didn’t have a specific design in mind when I started creating, so I let my creativity flow as I added elements one by one.

I printed my photo slightly smaller than 3×4 inches and mounted it on white cardstock. I positioned it next to the cut-apart card in the center of the page. To the right of my photo, I added a large tag from the Die-Cut Elements. To balance out the composition, I added a similar tag on the left side. Below the photo on the right, I placed a small journal card, which I topped with my title from the Chipboard Words set. I love how this journal card almost acts as a frame for the title!

After flipping through the embellishment packs, I picked out a few pieces to complement the layout. I’m absolutely in love with the dreamcatchers in this collection, and since my photo is of my son sleeping as a baby, I couldn’t resist using one from the Laser Cut Elements. I tucked it behind the photo with the feathers dangling below. I also selected a few chipboard banners with meaningful sentiments that worked perfectly with the theme and added them to the 3×4 cut-apart card.

With those elements in place, I turned my attention to the florals in the Laser Cut Elements. Florals always add such a lovely touch, and the blue and gold clusters in this collection are simply stunning. I created small floral clusters around the edges of the design, using foam pads to raise some of the flower heads for added dimension.

A few cherubs in this collection caught my eye, and I thought it would be sweet to have one watching over my son in the photo. I positioned the die-cut cherub so that it faces the photo, as if it’s peacefully keeping watch while my son sleeps.

If you’ve ever worked with 49 and Market’s Rub-On Transfers, you know how incredible they are. The quality is impeccable, and they’re so easy to apply! I used a few from the Blendable Rub-On Transfers, placing them in the open spaces of the page to fill in any gaps. I also added a moon in the top right corner to tie everything together.

To finish off the layout, I added smaller details, like stars from the Die-Cut Elements pack, along with additional stars and butterflies from the Epoxy Coated Stickers. The final touch was a few gold splatters, created using metallic gold paint, to bring a bit of sparkle and cohesion to the layout.
