Hi Friends,
Rebecca here, and welcome back to the 49 and Market blog for my first post of 2024! Today, I’m excited to share a layout I created using the spectacular Toddler Time collection—our final collection designed by Katie Pertiet.

For this layout, I was inspired by the colours in my photo, and I ended up using a vibrant mix of turquoise, yellow, and green elements. I started by selecting large journal cards from the Ephemera Bits—my go-to for layering behind photos. To add some dimension, I used adhesive foam between the layers. On top of these cards, I placed two frame-style die cuts from the Laser Cut Icons featuring sheep and florals. Since the frames will be covered by my photos, I positioned them so the flowers peek around the edges.

With the main elements and photo in place, it was time to focus on embellishments. I always start with the larger pieces, as it helps me determine where to create embellishment clusters and fill any gaps. I cut a tag from the Ephemera Bits in half and placed the two halves on either side of my photo. I also cut a doily from the Laser Cut Elements in half and added it above and below the photo for a pop of yellow. Cutting larger items in half is a great way to stretch your collection!

For the title, I chose a banner from the Ephemera Bits and positioned it below my photo with a heart on top. This left two clear spaces for embellishment clusters on either side of the photo. I built the clusters using florals from the Laser Cut Icons, smaller items from the Laser Cut Elements, and a few elements from the Chipboard Assortment, raising most of them with foam pads.

Once all the elements were adhered together, I moved them around as one piece and tested different background papers. I initially tried plain white cardstock, but it washed out the colours too much, so I settled on a stunning turquoise cardstock with black and white newspaper print. This paper is actually the reverse of the 12×12 Solids Collection Pack cover!
After choosing the background, I added some stamping with two of the new Sizzix and 49 and Market stamp sets: 666806 (Doily Edgers) and 666804 (Build-A-Burst). I used Distress Oxide Ink in Hickory Smoke because the grey complemented my son’s outfit in the photo. I felt black would be too bold, especially since there aren’t any other black elements on the layout. Once the stamping was dry, I finished the background with some Essentials Rub-On Transfers, selecting phrases that suited the memory I was documenting.

To complete the layout, I added a few Wishing Bubble and Bauble Epoxy Stickers—two round phrases and two hearts—to tie everything together.
