It’s Rebecca here with you today, and I’m excited to share my latest layout featuring the gorgeous new collections designed by Joanne Bain – Little Dreamers and Little Celebrations.
As I always do when working with a new collection, I started by flicking through all the patterned papers and simply marvelling at their beauty! I selected one that really caught my eye to use as my background. It has beautifully detailed edges, while the centre is left clean – the perfect space to build my design.
To complement my photo, I chose a sheet from the 12×12 Solids pack that echoes the colour of the carpet in the image. I cut a wide strip of this cardstock and distressed the edges to add lots of texture and interest. I intended for this to act as a base layer, so I cut it slightly larger than the photo, giving me plenty of room to build up layers behind it without obscuring the background.
Next, I added a narrow strip of hessian on top of the cardstock. The fabric texture worked so well with the vibe of the collection. Since I love lots of layering in my layouts, I sifted through the Die Cut pack and selected a few pieces to tuck behind my photo. I used craft foam between the layers to create depth and dimension.
With the photo and layers in place, I moved on to embellishing. I absolutely adore the sweet little animals in this collection. Since my son is wearing a giraffe on his top in the photo, I couldn’t resist including the baby giraffe embellishment from the Laser Cut Elements. I also added a few more icons, like a shelf and some balloons, and tucked in some floral elements to extend the design and soften the look.
For the title, I chose a grey chipboard word that complements my son’s outfit perfectly. Chipboard words are my go-to for titles – I love the font styles and how sturdy they are.
To finish the layout, I added some subtle stencilling and stamping to the background, along with a few Rub-On Transfers and Epoxy Coated Stickers for that final touch of detail. If you’ve not yet seen the fabulous 49 and Market stamps by Sizzix, then you NEED to check them out!
