Hello everyone & welcome back to the 49 and market blog.
I guess by now you’ve all seen the lovely new collection ‘The Flower Emporium’ from Vicki Boutin. It’s a stunning collection full of great patterned papers, flowers & icons & upon first look it can seen very pink & girly but I decided to make a boy layout & found loads of colours & icons that were boy related!!

I started with one of the mixed media patterned papers out the ‘starters’ pack, the one with the orange ink & text on it. This gave me a great base to add my design onto. I cut apart the segments, out the pin wheel paper & chose the blues, greens & neutral shades & distressed althe edges. I layered these, coming out from the photo, top & to the right & bottom & to the left, fanning them out & machine stitching into place.

Using the rub on transfers, I added pieces, around the photo & patterned paper to add to the background, using mainly the blue toned ones to add some contrast.

I adhered some layers, to the back of my photo, using a tag, off the ‘starters’ paper, die-cut pieces & chipboard. The finishing flourishes were some of the laser cut elements & a few acetate leaves & puffy stars.
