It’s Claire here with you today, sharing a layout made with the Color Swatch Ochre collection.
I started with a piece of white cardstock and the Ochre Paper 2 paper from the 12×12 Collection Pack. I trimmed the patterned paper down to 11”x11”, distressed the edges and added machine stitching around the outside, before adhering to my white cardstock base with double sided tape.
Once this was in place, I lightly tore a small piece of the paper on each side, folding to edges back to create extra texture.
I wanted to create a dimensional design, so pulled out the Ochre Element Stackers and selected a range of cards, tickets and printed papers to create an anchor for my photo to sit on. These packs are full of beautifully crafted pieces which make creating a layered design really simple but so effective.
To Offset my photo which almost perfectly matches the colours in this collection, I opted to mount my photo using one of the Ochre Frames from the Frame Set. I love a stripe and think this works really well to draw your eye into the photograph.
Then came the embellishing! I love this part! I used a selection of florals, leaves and butterflies from the Ochre Laser Cut Elements and Mini Laser Cut Elements to create two main clusters on either side of my photo (top right and bottom left).
To help bring the page to life, I stuck some of these flat, and raised others on foam. Similarly, with the butterflies, I glued only the centre of the butterfly bodies to the page. This lets me lift the wings off the page, adding to the overall depth and dimension.
For the title, I used one of the Stacker Elements again raising on foam to draw your eye across the page. To finish, I added a few enamel dots from the Wherever Essentials Project Tote Bundle – the colour is a perfect complement to the browner tones of the Color Swatch Ochre collection.
