Hi everyone,
It’s Rebecca with you today and I’m really excited to be sharing my first layout created using the Academia collection by new designer, Dennis Bruton. As the name suggests, it’s a school/education themed collection, and it was perfect for me as I was yet to scrap this years school photo of my son!
I selected one of the patterned papers for my background as I loved all the details it included and felt that it gave me a space in the centre of the page to build my layout. This entire layout was inspired by the hexagons on the ‘Congratulations’ paper. I decided to fussy cut several hexagons, and use them along with the hexagon Die Cut Elements to create a tiled-effect on my background. I adhered the patterned paper hexagons flat, and raised the die cut hexagons up using foam to help give the layout some dimension.
After matting my photo on a couple of patterned papers, I placed it in the centre of the page, raised up on top of the hexagons using adhesive foam.
I embellished either side of my photo using the amazing Laser Cut Elements. This pack of laser cuts is so generous and includes 4 sheets of assorted elements. I love that along with all the traditional education themed pieces, there are also some less traditional pieces such as lightbulbs, arrows and leaves.
For my title, I’ve used one of the Die Cut Elements. I chose this piece not only because I obviously think my son is totally awesome, but also because I loved how the black and white matched my photo.
To finish off the layout, I’ve added some of the Blendable Rub-On Transfers. These are really amazing and I love how they work so well for a masculine themed layout. I was especially drawn to the sheet that had little clusters of different elements. I’ve added lots of rubs ons to the outer corners of my background, but also to the outer edges of my hexagon-tiled background. I then build on these areas by adding some of the Washi Sheets. I love the detailing this has added.
