Wonderful – Layout by Rebecca

Hi Friends!

It’s Rebecca here, and I’m excited to share my final layout of 2024 with you today! I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown by. But I’m thrilled to say that I’ll be back in 2025, sharing even more of my creations using the gorgeous 49 and Market collections.

For this last layout of the year, I decided to work with the stunning Evergreen Season collection, designed by Katie Pertiet. As someone who loves traditional Christmas colours, this collection truly makes my heart sing!

I started by cutting a strip of neutral cardstock from the 12 x 12 Solids Collection Pack and tearing both the top and bottom edges for added texture. To create contrast, I selected a dark, bold patterned paper and added a thin strip to the top and bottom. On top of this, I placed my 3×4 inch photo inside one of the beautiful chipboard frames. The woodgrain effect on these frames is perfect for a Christmas layout—woodgrain and the holidays just go hand in hand. Behind the photo, I added a couple of fishtail banners cut from one of the patterned papers, being careful to select sections with both red and green hues to add some colour to the design.

Around the photo, I used embellishments from the Laser Cut Elements and Wildflower Laser Cuts packs. These packs are incredibly generous, each containing nearly 100 pieces, which makes them perfect for multiple projects. I’m sure I’ll have plenty left over, even after finishing up all my Christmas layouts! For my title, I’ve selected a chipboard word from the Chipboard Words pack.

Once all the elements were in place and adhered with a mix of double-sided tape and foam pads for added dimension, I shifted my focus to the background. Lately, I’ve been enjoying incorporating a bit of light mixed media into my layouts. For this one, I reached for Black Soot Distress Ink and a 2-inch wide brayer. After watering down the ink, I rolled it onto the background vertically, keeping it centered behind the embellishments. Once dry, I added rub-on transfers from both the Sentiments and Essentials sets. To finish the background, I did a bit of stamping with Jet Black Staz On Ink using a stamp from the 49 and Market/Sizzix release.

After everything dried, I adhered the elements to the background with a layer of adhesive foam behind to give the layout some extra dimension.
