Photographs & Memories – Layout by Claire

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to be sharing a new layout on the 49 and Market blog today, and this time, I’m creating with TWO gorgeous collections – Color Swatch Teal and Color Swatch Ochre.

These are two of my favourite colours and the combination is so pretty! I hope it will inspire you to mix and max these beautiful collections.

Using white cardstock for my base, I gathered the Ephemera Stackers and selected some layering pieces of all shapes and sizes, pulling both Ochre elements and some of the pieces with a more neutral, brown tone. I placed these in the centre of my page to act as an anchor for my design.

Next, I chose three frames from the Teal Frame Set and one from the Ochre set. I used two to mount my photos and used a newspaper printed piece of card from the Ephemera Stackers pack behind the other two frames. I staggered these across the page, overlapping each one and raising on foam to create height and dimension.

To add some extra colour to the background, I placed some rub-ons from the Teal Rub-on Transfer Set around the edges of the design, and complemented this with a small splash of brown watercolour paint. Once dry, I took a sentiment stamp from the Sizzix Stamp set (ref. 666630) to stamp ‘every moment’ and ‘happiness’ around the corners of the design. To create extra depth and interest, I did second generation stamping – stamping the same item multiple times without re-inking. I love the colour and depth variance this technique gives.

I also added a rub on to create a small title ‘Photographs & Memories’ – I love the subtlety of this.

Then came the embellishing, and I just couldn’t resist the laser cuts form both the Ochre and Teal set, mixing florals, with tags, tickets, banners and leaves to bring the page to life! As a final touch, I sprinkled a few enamel dots.
