Hello and welcome back to the 49 and Market Blog,
It’s Claire here today and I’m sharing a layout made with the Rust & Revs collection – a bold, masculine collection that is just the job for creating an impactful industrial feel to your projects.
As a scrapbooker, I’m always snapping photos of those little moments that take place throughout the day, and in this blog post, I’m scrapping one of those photographs – Mr. Claire is car mad, and can often be found tinkering around in the garage, and in this case I found my dog engrossed in watching what he was doing!
To start, I took a sheet of 49 and Market Essentials white cardstock to use as my base and applied black watercolour paint with a brayer to give the effect of oil, dirt and grease associated with working on cars and engines.
I love the ‘Journey’ paper – it looks like corrugated metal with warm tones of brown and cooler grey shades that I absolutely love! I distressed the edges and adhered it on top of the paint once it had dried. Using three frames from the Die-cut Elements, I created layering behind my photo, which was mounted on to a piece of the Macho paper. I also used these die cuts for my title at the bottom of the page.
I created a cluster across the middle of the page, extending from both sides of my photograph using a variety of tyres, tools, chains and oil drums from the Laser Cut Element Set.
To finish, I opted for some black and white rub ons from the Rub-on Transfer Set, which blend well into my mixed media background and a few wishing bubbles scattered around my page as a final touch.
