Memories – Layout by Michelle Lee

Hello, 49 & Market friends!
It’s the end of August already, and that means fall is right around the corner. I’m looking forward to seeing all the fall colors.
Today I’m here to inspire you with the new gorgeous Vintage Orchard Collection. It’s full of beautiful autumn tones. I chose the paper Etched Botanicals from the collection as my base.

To start I matted my photos on to a couple of the Vintage Orchard Stacked frames. Then I went about choosing a few layering elements from the Vintage Orchard Ephemera Bits pack to layer behind my photos and among my clusters. I grabbed a few different leaf branches, butterflies, and flowers from the Vintage Orchard Wildflower Laser cuts. From the Vintage Orchard Laser Cuts Elements I grabbed a few tickets and other elements to add interest to the clusters.

I started my clusters on pieces of cheesecloth that I colored using Tim Holtz oxide ink in Vintage Linen. Then I began building my flower layers using the various laser cut elements. I also added flowers from the Rustic Bouquet and Rustic Blooms in Marigold, as well as a few from a Sugar Posies pack in Butterscotch.

I also tucked some moss between the layers for added texture and interest. When I was happy with the placement of everything I used some rub-ons from the Vintage Orchard Essentials Rub on Transfers set on the background around my design. I try to save the rub-ons towards the end. That way I don’t end up covering a bunch with my clusters. They are also great for filling spots that seem a bit bare and need a little something. As a finishing touch I added some art stones and micro beads here and there.
