Here, There & Everywhere – Layout by Claire

Hello and welcome back to the 49 and Market Blog.

It’s Claire here today and I am creating a 12×12 layout using Color Swatch Terracotta.

Taking a piece of Essential White Cardstock, I applied some watered down Distress Oxide ink in Bundled Sage with a brayer, focusing on where my design would sit to give a hint of colour. Once this was dry, I used one of the text stamps from the 49 & Market & Sizzix Birdsong stamp & die sets to stamp over the ink, again using Bundles Sage. I really love a scripty stamp and this gives just a pop of text to create extra interest.

Pulling lots of layering pieces from the Ephemera Stackers, I layered several pieces together, carefully selecting different sizes, prints, patterns and tones. To create depth, some are stuck flat using double sided tape, whilst others are raised on thin foam so as not to create too much bulk.

I used one frame from the Frame Set, using both the outer and inner frames to mount my two photos – I love this effect and as an added bonus, nothing goes to waste!

Next, for my statement florals! I loved the artwork on Paper #3 and wanted to incorporate these into my design. I fussy cut the largest flowers, being careful to also cut out those gorgeous butterflies, and positioned these as if they were growing from behind my photos. I glued the stems down flat and raised the flower heads of foam to secure them tightly in place.

To draw in some more of those terracotta tones, I pulled some of the Laser Cut Elements to create a small cluster to the right of my photos.

To the left pf the photos, I opted for two pieces from the Acetate Assortment. I love how this introduces a new texture and sheen to the layout, helping to draw your eye into and across the page.

As a final touch, I made small cuts in the side of each page, folding the edge back to show a pop of Paper #1 – I cannot resist a fun diagonal stripe!! I also added a few enamel dots and a few splashes of gold paint.
