Hi everyone,
It’s Rebecca with you on the blog today sharing the first layout I’ve created with the gorgeous new Vintage Orchard collection. Autumn is one of my favourite seasons to scrap so I was so excited when I opened this collection and saw all the gorgeous elements.
To begin, I cut a rectangular section of patterned paper and distressed all the edges to add some texture. Distressing edges is one of my favourite things to do and it’s so simple – you can either use a special edge-distressing tool, or just simply the edge of your scissors!
On top of the patterned paper, I added two record-style cards from the ‘ephemera bits’, placing some adhesive foam between the layers to add dimension. I wanted to limit my colour scheme to just the colours in my photo, so I purposely selected a yellow and a green card. These elements are all portrait orientation, so I opted for a landscape photo so that it didn’t cover everything up, and it helped to balance the page out a bit. I placed my photo behind one of the stunning ‘Stacked Frames’ and added it centrally to my composition.
To the bottom right of my photo I’ve positioned one of the ‘Chipboard Words’ as my title. I love these titles – the font is always so beautiful and they are nice and sturdy.
Before adhering everything to my background, I selected some rub-on transfers to add some detailing and a mixed-media look. I love how easy it is to use the 49 and Market rub-ons. The Vintage Orchard collection includes 3 different sets of rub-ons, each set comprising 3 sheets. For this layout, I used rub-ons from the ‘Blendable’ set and the ‘Essentials’ set.
With the rub-ons applied, I was then able to adhere everything else to the background with an acetate film strip from the ‘Acetate Assortment’ behind it for a bit of darker contrast.
Now I had all the larger elements in place, I moved on to embellishing with the smaller pieces from the collection. I love how many different embellishment packs are created for each collection – it’s quite often a struggle not to use all the things!!
I selected some acetate leaves, some chipboard pieces and some ‘Laser Cut Elements’ and arranged them on the layout. I also selected two of the square frames from the ephemera bits and added them either side of my photo as I love the diagonal stripes.
To finish off, I added a few dots of green Nuvo Crystal Drops in a few areas.
