Hello fellow 49 & Market Friends!
It’s Nikki Sher here to show you a fun Home Décor piece I created using the Evergreen Season Collection. I wanted to shake up my creativity this month and make something that I could display during the holiday season. I started with a 10×10 hanging wood panel I had in my stash – it was the perfect match to the chipboard frames and wood papers in the collection!
Next was the photo which I’d already chosen in my head. I’ve had this photo of me and my mom since December 2019 and I’ve always wanted to do something special with it. Disneyland is always the place to make special memories, but Disneyland at Christmas – pure MAGIC! Once the photo was in place, I began layering patterned paper and Ephemera Bits. The wood accents in the Chipboard Frames and Ephemera were a key piece to me because they matched the wood carvings in the photo and the wood panel itself.
Once the paper was down, it was time to embellish! I wanted to recreate that poinsettia cluster that I covered with my photo so I began by using the Wildflower Laser Cuts and putting a few flowers, sprigs and berries in place. I really wanted this to be a three dimensional project, so I made sure to add lots of foam in between each paper layer as well as curling the leaves and flower petals outward from the layout. This adds lots of depth, texture and even shadows to your project that will help it stand out!
Of course, no project of mine would be complete without a few Rub-On Transfers! I strategically placed a few around three corners of the layout. The music bars are my favorite! Finally, I placed the whole piece on the 10×10 wood panel using a double layer of foam tape.
I just love how this project came out and I cannot wait to display it in my home during the holidays this year!
