Hello fellow 49 and Market Friends!
It’s Nikki Sher here to show you a spectacular Envelope Pocket Folio I made using the brand new Birdsong Collection. I really love these Folios because they make a great mini album but they also fit into the Foundation Albums. This way, if you want to make the album larger later on, you can add to it.
When I saw this collection, I immediately fell in love! The colors in this line are right up my alley – peachy pink and teal! Then add in birds, nests and flowers – Yes please! Give me all of it!
I wanted to make something that would show off this beautiful paper but also give me plenty of room to embellish. Using the 12×12 Birdsong Collection Pack, I chose which paper I wanted for my cover, inside cover and inserts. When choosing a cover patterned paper I usually end up with one that has all or most of the colors of the collection in it. This gives you a preview of each color represented inside the album.
Once all my papers were in place, I added photo mats using the 12×12 Birdsong Solids Collection Pack. Using these as place holders for my photos, I then began adding ephemera from the Laser Cut Elements, Wildflower Laser Cuts and Ephemera Bits. I also used words from the Chipboard Mixed Set for the title on my cover.
Layering the laser cut ephemera is probably my favorite go to technique. I usually pick a few flowers and a focal image (like a bird cage) and then ground this on a solid image like a label or doily. After that I’ll add my sentiment and something small like a bird or butterfly. Creating this cluster is so visually appealing and will draw the viewer in to your image.
