Hello everyone & welcome back to the 49 and Market blog.
Julie back with you again today & I’m sharing a layout using the fabulous new collection Rust and Revs by designer Dennis Bruton. This collection has a real masculine feel to it so perfect for the men/boys in your life.
I’m using the collection bundle today, which has most of the collection in & a great way to purchase it as it’s all there for you ready to use. I used the ledger paper, as my background, as it was plainer than some of the others & I wanted to add a bit of mixed media. I already decided to do 2 horizontal clusters, top & bottom, so knew where to add my inks, which I did through a couple of different stencils.
I then built up my top cluster using some torn strips of the patterned papers, die cut elements, laser cut elements & added my photo on top. I’ve used some trim, corrugated cardboard & even a belt loop off some old jeans to give the page some texture.
Using the rub-ons, around the page, gives it the added extras here & there.
I used some of the great circular cogs & rivets, out the Die Cut Elements pack & Laser Cut Elements pack to bring the eye down the page, & I’m amazed at how realistic they look!!! Really give the look of metal & rusting metal!!
I added my other cluster, bottom right & mimicked the stencilling & paper tearing but just made it a touch smaller so the focal point was the photo. The truck, out the Laser Cut Element pack, was almost a perfect copy of the one in my photo of my Dad in the army in 1953, so that just had to be used!!
I’ve loved making this layout with this collection & so great that I found the perfect photo to use. Can’t wait to get stuck in again & see what else I can make.
