It’s Rebecca here with you, and I’m thrilled to be sharing my very first layout using Vicki Boutin’s brand new Mistletoe & Memories collection. It might still be early in the year, but in my world, it’s never too early for Christmas—so as soon as this beautiful collection landed on my desk, I couldn’t wait to dive in!
The first thing I noticed? The size of this collection—it’s absolutely huge! With so many gorgeous elements to choose from, I felt completely spoiled.
I started by flipping through the 12×12 Paper Patterns Pad and picked a design with printed text for my background. I also selected a few patterned papers from the 6×8 Collection Paper Pack, trimmed them down, and distressed all the edges for added texture. After layering them in the center of my page, I built up more dimension using pieces from the Journaling Bits Set. Then, I added my photo on top, using foam behind it to make it pop.
Beneath the photo, I placed my title. I used the word ‘Christmas’ from the Chipboard Basics, and paired it with ‘Time’ from the Puffy Stickers. I love the mix of textures—it adds interest and a playful, tactile feel to the layout.
With the foundation in place, it was time for the fun part—embellishing! I reached for the Laser Cut Elements (there are two packs, each with four sheets!) and chose a large Christmas tree along with some leafy sprigs to frame the layout. I also added a couple of bunting strings on either side to bring in some festive cheer.
From the Icons and Titles Ephemera Set, I selected a present stack and a poinsettia. I fussy-cut the white borders off these pieces to keep the overall look cohesive, since none of the other elements had white edges. I also tucked in a few beautiful accents from the Foiled Die-Cut Assortment for a touch of shine.
To finish off the layout, I added a few Rub-On Transfers and some white paint splatters for a snowy effect.
