Hi Friends,
Welcome back to the 49 and Market blog! It’s Rebecca here today, and I’m excited to share my latest layout created using the wonderful Toddler Time collection.

The inspiration for this layout came from the grid design on my son’s shirt in the photo. I wanted to base my layout on “square” elements, so I chose the blue and green envelopes from the Ephemera Bits and paired them with two laser-cut frames from the Laser Cut Elements. I layered them in the center of a sheet of white cardstock, allowing them to overlap slightly. However, I wasn’t completely happy with how the frames looked open, so I decided to back them with patterned paper. I opted for the black-and-white text print to mirror the writing on my son’s shirt.
Once I backed the frames, I was much happier with the look. I adhered the four elements together and placed my photo in the center, adding foam behind it to give it a bit of lift and dimension.
Blue and green are one of my favourite colour combinations, so I went through the Toddler Time collection and picked out smaller elements to complement the layout. I selected some blue florals from the Laser Cut Icons, along with a grey frame and a phrase stub from the Laser Cut Elements. These were adhered around the photo, with foam pads for extra dimension. I also fussy-cut a long lace trim from one of the patterned papers and tucked the ends behind my central cluster, extending the design outward to the edges of the page.

For the title, I used one of the words from the Chipboard Assortment. I positioned it slightly overlapping my photo and raised the other end with foam pads to ensure it remained flat. I also added a round chipboard flair for a fun touch.

While I love the look of a crisp white background, the subtle colours on this layout were making the page feel a little bare. That’s where the 49 and Market Rub-On Transfers came in! I selected some leafy and lacey rub-ons from the Blendable set and applied them around the edges of my design, adding extra texture and depth.
To add even more detail to the background, I reached for some of my 49 and Market and Sizzix stamps. Using two stamp sets from the first release – 666704 and 666630 – I randomly stamped the background with a stamping block and a Stazon Ink pad in “Stone Gray.” I chose this colour because it complemented the grey tones in my photo, and I felt that black would have been too harsh for the soft feel of the layout.

I finished the layout with a few Wishing Bubbles and Baubles Stickers, applying them tone-on-tone on the envelopes for a subtle, elegant effect.
