Hi Friends and welcome back to the 49 and Market blog.
It’s Rebecca with you today, and I’m sharing with you my first layout created with the gorgeous Birdsong collection. This collection features some of my favourite colours to scrap with so I was really excited to get stuck in.
Having selected a patterned paper for my background, I knew I wanted to use the mixed media effect as a guide and create a central design on the page. I love to incorporate lots of layers in my layouts, so I selected some of the larger journalling cards from the Ephemera Bits along with one of the layered frames and arranged them in the middle of my page, using the frame to house my photo.
Next, I introduced some of the Wildflower Laser Cuts, creating 2 small clusters running diagonally through my photo. I use tiny foam pads to help me layer the delicate die-cuts and build dimension.
For my title I’ve used two pieces from the Chipboard Mixed Set. I love using chipboard for my titles as I feel they make a bold statement on the page.
With everything in position in the centre of my page, I worked to get it all adhered with adhesive foam in between some of the layers to build on the dimension. Having all the elements stuck together, but not yet adhered to the background means I could move everything off the page in one piece easily to add some rub-ons to my background. I like to leave the rub ons until last, otherwise I apply them and then end up covering them all up!
Using rub-ons from both the Essentials and Blendable sets, I added subtle detailing to my background.
I finished off the layout with a few die cut butterflies from the Wildflower Laser Cuts.
