It’s Rebecca with you and today I am sharing a monochromatic layout I’ve created using the stunning new Color Swatch Charcoal collection. It’s such an amazing collection full of different shades of grey and black. It’s fabulous on its own as I’ve used it here, but it would also look fabulous mixed with other collections to add a pop of colour. The possibilities are endless!
For my layout, I selected a patterned paper to use as my background. I wanted a paper that wasn’t too busy, but that had some subtle detailing and Paper 2 was perfect. I used one of the frames from the Charcoal Frame Set to house my photo and placed this in the centre of the page. I then used some pieces from the Ephemera Stackers to build up some layers behind my photo.
Behind these layers, I’ve built up some clusters using leaves from the Acetate Assortment and floral die cuts from the Laser Cut Elements. Raising the florals up on foam pads has helped me introduce some depth and dimension to the layout.
The layout was starting to feel very left-heavy, so to help balance the page, I added another, slightly smaller frame to the right hand side and used one of the Laser Cut die-cuts for my title.
Wanting to add a little more detail to my background, I selected some of the gorgeous rub-ons from the Rub-On Transfer Set. If I had to choose my favourite product from 49 and Market, it would be these Rub-On Transfers. They are always so beautiful and add the most amazing detail to any layout with minimal effort (and that’s always a win in my book!). I also added some Nuvo Crystal Drops in the shades ‘Ebony Black’ and ‘Metallic Liquid Mercury’. By adding small lines of the Nuvo Drops and then scraping them with a plastic spatula, you can create a really lovely mixed media effect that looks quite ‘rough’ but controlled.
To finish the layout off, I added a couple of acetate butterflies and some black and silver sequins from my stash.
