Hello lovely ladies!
Welcome back to the blog where you’ll always find inspiration for creating with beautiful 49 and Market products. Today I am sharing a layout using the fab and fun Spectrum Gardenia collection. This collection is beautiful, bright, and full of happiness! So, the big question for me was…how do you scrap a redhead wearing pink? The colors kind of clash and don’t really compliment each other. Well, it seems that 49 and Market read my mind and took that into consideration, and came up with papers and embellishments that pulled it off perfectly!! Who woulda thunk??
When creating the background, I wanted the layout to pop, so I used the striped side of the Painted foundations Color Wheel, with black cardstock on top. Then I cut the Solids – Paper 1 to fit and adhered it all to a piece of 12×12 chipboard. I always use a piece of chipboard underneath my layouts for stability. Sometimes they can get pretty heavy and bulky, this way they are easier to store and don’t fall apart.
Here is the main part of the title. I used the word ‘HAPPIEST’ from the Ultimate Page Kit and tucked it into the safety pin banner from the General Laser Cut Elements. Then I placed the word ‘ smile’ at an angle right up next to it. Here you can also see the matting behind the photo. I used the striped chipboard frame from the Ultimate Page Kit on top of the pink torn edge strip from the Essential Laser Cut Elements. I used a pink frame from the Ephemera Bits under the stripes off to the side (you’ll see more of that later.) On top of the stripes directly under the photo, I placed the little black torn strips all the way around the photo just to add more interest.
Moving down the left side, here is one of the 2 flower clusters. I used the gorgeous Royal Spray Passion Pink and Sugar Petal Butterscotch flowers placed on top of leaves from the Leaves Laser Cut Elements. I added a couple small chipboard pieces from 2Crafty that I heat embossed with ultra thick white embossing powder just to break up the color. Then I added a few of the cute butterflies from the Butterfly Laser Cut Elements to finish off this side of the layout.
Here at the bottom of the layout is the rest of the title. I love these little round letters! Perfect for this layout. They are from the Ultimate Page Kit. I placed them on top of another torn strip from the Essential Laser Cut Elements. Then that was placed on top of another striped frame from the Ultimate Page Kit. I used chipboard pieces from Creative Embellishments here, and at the top right on top of the Filmstrip Frames. I painted them in flat white Acrylic Paint to mimic the subtle Moroccan design on the patterned paper. Then I added some hearts from the Essential Laser Cut Elements to add color to the black filmstrips.
Here is the main flower cluster. I used the same flowers, leaves and chipboard on this side as on the other. I wanted to create symmetry and balance with the composition.
Coming full circle is the top right. I extended the Filmstrip Frame all the way up under the photo and placed another heart on top to match the bottom. Also added another piece of chipboard to balance out the design with the bottom. And another butterfly, because you just can’t have enough butterflies!! A little bow from the General Laser Cut Elements finishes it off.
