Grateful For You – Layout by Michelle Lee

Hello, Everyone!
It’s the end of February already, and that means spring is right around the corner. I sure am ready for some warmer weather.
Today I’m here to inspire you with the new vibrantly colored and oh so gorgeous Kaleidoscope Collection. Teals are my go to color at the moment so I chose the beautiful Treasured Teal from the collection as my base.

I had a basic idea of the design I wanted for this layout, and knew it was going to involve a bit of mixed media so I started with a coat of clear gesso. While that was drying I began building my layers under the photo. For that I grabbed a few different pieces from the Curators Remnants pack and the Color Swatch Teal Ephemera Stackers pack. Once I was happy with the layers I glued them together, then mounted them on a thin piece of cardboard for more dimension. Without gluing it downI placed the photo on my background so I could work out the placement of the chipboard gears. I mentally made a note of where I needed to add the mixed media to the background. Removing everything, I went to work on the background. I chose three different sprays to compliment the paper. The sprays I chose were Shimmers Vibes in Beach Glass, Tattered Angels Bahama Blue, and Lindy’s Flat Fabio in C’est La Vie Cerise. Drying between each application.I had a bit left over on my mat so I added some color to the chipboard gears.

I then began building back my design. I pulled some tickets, dragonflies, and word strips from the Kaleidoscope Laser Cut Elements pack. Then I chose a few of the heart shaped buttons from the Color Swatch Teal Laser Cut Elements pack.

For my flower clusters I pulled the colors from the flowers on the background. Choosing to go with Nature’s Bounty -Pistachio and an older pack of Blossom Blends -Sea Breeze. I played around with the placement until I was happy.

Once everything was glued down, I went back to the background to add some black rub ons from the Spectrum Gardenia Rub On pack. Working them in randomly around my design. As a finishing touch I added some art stones and seed beads to my clusters for a bit more detail and texture.
