Hello, Everyone!
Today I’m here to inspire you with the new oh so gorgeous Color Swatch Charcoal Collection. I chose papers 3 and 4 from the collection as my base. I think the soft gray background worked well with my photo.
I started with a coat of clear gesso on the background in case I decided to do any mixed media. While that was drying I began building my layers under the photo. For that I grabbed a few different pieces from the Color Swatch Charcoal Ephemera Stackers pack. Once I was happy with the layers I glued them together, then mounted them on a thin piece of cardboard for more dimension. After gluing it down I tucked some pieces of cheesecloth between the background and my photo layers to soften the edges.
To frame the photo I chose a circular chipboard frame that I colored using Shimmers Vibez in Before Dawn. I then began building my flower clusters. I chose the Nature’s Bounty in Soft Lilac as well as a few Florets in Soft Lilac. I pulled some leaves, tickets, butterflies, heart shaped buttons, and a few tags from the Color Swatch Charcoal Laser Cut Elements pack to work into the clusters.
I decided the design needed a bit more so I grabbed a few more pieces from the lLaser Cut pack. Playing around with the placement of everything until I was happy. The little caterpillars were too cute so I had to add them.
Once everything was glued down, I went back to the background to add some color with Shimmers Coloringz in Moody Mauve and a few black rub ons from the Spectrum Gardenia Rub On pack. Working them in randomly around my design. As a finishing touch I added some art stones, tiny micro beads, and a few sequins to my clusters for a bit more detail and texture.
